James is a native to Black Mountain, living on this land from a young child and growing up in the Swannanoa Valley. Pamela is from New Mexico but has lived in Western North Carolina since 2006. For the last fourteen years they have been married and raising their children in what they believe to be the most beautiful place possible. Both work full time jobs while trying to make this farming venture viable to both their family and their community.
We started this venture in 2021 during the pandemic, realizing how precious our health and food sources are. We spent countless hours researching regenerative farming and a passion sprung forth. The decision was made to begin what is now Woven Roots Farmstead.
At WRF, we believe in sustainable farming practices that promote the health of our land, our animals, and our customers. We do not use fertilzers, pest control or antibiotics. We rotate our animals, using their natural grazing, rooting, pecking and scratching to cultivate and create pasture. We are lucky to have natural springs to provide the best water and to ensure that our farming practices are environmentally responsible.
